Bloodbath at Sikh Temple Branded ‘Domestic Terrorism’

AFP & JSOnline

A 40-year-old white male dispatched 6 Sikhs attending temple on Sunday only to be killed himself by an Oak Creek police officer.  While local police were the initial responders the FBI and ATF were tight on their heals. Officials immediately characterized the incident as an act of ‘domestic terrorism.’  Only thing is no motive was determined in the aimless slaughter until after the feds determined the shooter used a semi-automatic weapon and was involved a hate group.  Why are local officials so quick to abdicate responsibility?  I guess ‘lone wolves’ and ‘white supremacists’ are federal business now.

Russia Reportedly Sending Warships with Marines to Syria

Los Angeles Times & Ben Swann’s Reality Check

It’s out in the open! NATO and the US are funding, equipping and training the Syrian opposition.  But, just who is the opposition?  Reportedly its been a growing number of al-Qaeda and associated jihadists responsible for executions, massacres and sectarian violence.  In what is being viewed as a counterbalance to this foreign insurgency the Russian Defense Ministry has sent an armada laden with military hardware and 360 marines to the port of Tartus.  The naval group, however, is insufficient to evacuate the estimated 30 – 60 thousand Russian citizens working and living in Syria.  Their true mission is up to speculation.  What is also up for debate is whether or not President Barack Obama and key members of Congress should be arrested under the NDAA provisions passed this year after until recently secretly providing millions in taxpayer dollars to support Bashar al-Assad’s compromised opposition.  Under the NDAA it is illegal to aid “al-Qaeda and affiliated forces.”

Hangover Heaven: Pleasure Without the Pain

Reason

It’s a welcomed innovation on the streets of Sin City.  For $99, 45-minutes and an intravenous cocktail of vitamins and minerals the hours of binge drinking and party favors will melt away and prepare you for a new round of debauchery.  This is not new Wall Street invented this decades ago.

Nuclear Power’s Replacement: Thorium Reactors

Zero Hedge

This nearly-valueless element in today’s market place may offer the world a way out of dependency on hydrocarbons and radioactive Uranium-238 for its exploding energy demands.  Compared to nuclear power a liquid thorium reactor would be:

  • Much safer as in no risk of radiological contamination.
  • Much more efficient at producing energy
  • Generate less waste – as harmful by-products would take days/weeks to degrade to safe levels, vs centuries
  • The pants would be much cheaper and smaller and thereby more plentiful
  • Do not provide opportunity for weaponization
  • Longer-lived – thorium is abundant

The Industrial Hemp Farming Act

Toke of The Town

In a bipartisan effort to stimulate job growth Republican and Democratic Senators Rand Paul and Ron Wyden, among many others, have introduced S. 3501 the companion to the House’s Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2011.  The bill will remove federal restrictions on the cultivation of industrial hemp, the non-drug oilseed and fiber varities of Cannibis. The move recognizes the unreasonable restrictions imposed by the 75-year-old Marihuana Tax Act, which abridged a practice the founding fathers considered essential.
