AMTV News: Kidnapped Veteran Quotes Founders from ‘Psych Ward’

First up…

‘The Police State is Here’: Kidnapped Veteran Embraces Alt Media

AVTM & CBS

It what may very well signal the death knell of the mainstream media, Brandon Raub, a United States Marine and Iraq and Afghan War Veteran along with his mother, blow off the establishment media for an exclusive interview with Adam Kokesh of ‘Adam Versus the Man.’  Raub, arrested by the FBI and secret service for ‘anti-government’ statements posted on his Facebook account, buries his captors in an avalanche of irony as he, from a psych ward, quotes a founding father.

Evidently after ‘someone saw something and said something’ to federal authorities about Raub’s posts he was arrested and after a roughly 25 minute hearing and at the recommendation of a government sponsored health professional was remanded to the John Randolph Medical Center for ‘observation’ as officials were ostensibly concerned Raub was either a threat to himself and or to others.

Recently, it has been reported almost ad nauseum the Department of Homeland Security and other federal orifices have grown increasingly paranoid about the prospect of veterans and libertarians becoming homegrown domestic terrorists. The most Orwellian part of all of this, federal authorities, who were on scene when the snatch n’ grab took place, maintain that it was not an ‘arrest’ because Raub currently doesn’t face charges.  If he wasn’t arrested, the alternative is called kidnapping.  Many are wondering if this is, but a official knee jerk reaction taken at a fevered pitch after a rash of domestic massacres or the merely the beginning of something far more insidious.

Tuned Out.  Afghanistan, America’s Twice Forgotten War

Associated Press

To forget about a war is understandable, b ut to forget it twice while it still rages on indicates it has gone on for far too long.  After President George W. Bush didn’t find any WMDs and was done creating an Shia Super State, President Barack Obama had a surge of his own in Afghanistan and even stepped up the drone assaults for good measure, but by the time election day comes this year it will have been 12 years and after numerous scandals, growing suicides, a waxing insurgency, billions of dollars and one high profile terrorist scuttled to the bottom of the ocean the hearts and minds of the Afghani’s are hardly warm to American democracy.  The War in Afghanistan is barely mentioned on the campaign trail, by the time it is the distant war could be under its 3rd administration – sound familiar?

15-Year-Old Invents Revolutionary Cancer Test

BBC

Rather than playing sports or video games, Jack Andraka, spends his time researching cancer at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University.  He was ‘chilling out in biology class’ when he took an article on single walled carbon nanotubes and applied it to what he learned about antibodies in class.  A mere 199 rejections letters later, Andraka created a cancer test 28 times faster, 28 times less expensive and more than 100 times more sensitive than the current gold standard test.  It costs 3 cents potentially allowing people test themselves every week.  A high schooler, without a college degree, brings new meaning to preventative medicine.

Fed Auditor: 2,527 DHS Employees & Cohorts Convicted of Crimes

CNS News

According to, Charles Edwards, the acting Inspector General for the DHS, IG is dealing with over 1500 open cases since fiscal 2004, although the majority of the cases have been opened in the last three years.  The DHS IG’s investigative work has yielded 2,527 convictions of ‘corruption and other criminal misconduct,’ but rather than most coming from ICE, Customs, or TSA the lions share – 65 percent – come from FEMA.  An employee is anyone considered to be  “appointed, contracted, or officially engaged under DHS.”  Evidently Edwards is being overwhelmed by the growing number of criminal allegations and is asking for 50 more investigators on top of the 219 already on board.

IMF: Iceland Was Right, We Were Wrong

Jeff Nielson, The Street

It’s been three years and the economic verdict is in – the “Iceland Option” has saved the tiny North Atlantic island from fiscal cataclysm.  Their situation couldn’t be more geographically appropriate as they are but an island amidst the ‘Developed World’s’ sea of suffocating debt.  Rather than succumb to the Siren’s Call and sign onto the economic integration prescribed to Europe, Iceland renounced their insurmountable and erroneous debt after the global economy ran ashore in 2008.  Icelanders took it on the chin with higher borrowing costs and being shut out of international debt markets, but hey, they averted national plunder and more importantly they preserved their sovereignty – what we here at AMTV News call – freedom.  This is more than we can say for the PIGS of Europe.
